Feb. 17 The British Boxing Board of Control announces that it refuses to renew George Cook's licence. This may prevent Cook from carrying out his plan of celebrating his silver jubilee as a professional by taking part in a boxing contest. Cook assumes that he is banned because ho is too old. Ho says: "I am still fit, and am not going to be stopped by a lot of men judging me by average boxers, nged 3!), who do not train and live right. If the newspapers after my next bout say I am 'washed up and through,' I will be prepared to quit gladly."
