SPORTS POSTPONED
CRICKET AND TENNIS Sports fixtures in Auckland wore again interrupted by rain on Saturday and cricket and tennis matches, except in a few instances, had to be postponed. Bain on Thursday and Friday night and showers on Saturday morning had made most of the cricket wickets unfit for play. There was 110 play at Eden Park or at the Domain, where City and Suburban Association games were set down for decision. However, at North Shore, where the wicket dries quickly, the senior match between Ponsouby and King's Old Boys, under the control of the Auckland Cricket Association, was commenced after an hour's delay. A few lower grade competition matches were also played on outside grounds. There was no tennis played on grass courts. Yachting, rowing and the majority of bowling fixtures were held as usual. Heavy rain fell at intervals at Hamilton throughout Friday night and Saturday and caused an abandonment of all outdoor fixtures on Saturday afternoon. Seddon Park, where 'cricket was to have been played, was in a sodden condition. The aquatic carnival, which was to have been held at Raglan on New Year's Day and which had to lie postponed on account of the weather, was scheduled to take place on Saturday, but another postponement was necessary.
