The crowd, which totalled 00,000, saw England secure a narrow victory by •! points to 3. After hair ait hoar's play. H. S. Sever dropped a field goal for England, and on the stroke of half-time W. Wooller scored a try for Wales. The play consisted mostly of a dour forward bailie, in which England revealed a slight superiority. ENGLISH CUP SURPRISES LARGE PUBLIC INTEREST (Received January 17, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. If. ■ Matches played in the third round of the Soccer competition for the English Cup created considerable interest, the attendances at these games totalling 800,1100. There were many surprises, chief among which were Millwall's defeat of Fulham, last year's scmifinalists, and Coventry's victory over Charlton, which is at present equal in tho lead with Arsenal in the first division championship.
