Perry was never in danger and accounted for the American's service finally to take the set. Vines played (lawlessly in the third set and took the first throe games to love. An incident in the tenth and deciding, game annoyed the usually calm Perry. A rush of spectators on to the court directly behind him caused him to cease play until the at tendant blocked the stampede. Vines' ascend ancy in the fourth set was plainly evident. It : was quickly brought to an end. Vines is one match ahead in all his encounters with Perry. The American won the first four amateur matches and lost the fifth, and then the first three professional matches.
