THREE GOI.D TROPHIES j POLICE MAKE AN ARREST TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] INVEKCARGILL, Thursday Three gold cups, stolen from Mr. W. T. Hazlett's Bunvood station during the absence of the members of the family last August, were recovered last evening under a tree on the property. They were extremely valuable trophies, representing important victories gained by Mr. Hazlett's horses in the Epsom Handicap, the Riverton Cup and the G. G. Stead Memorial, and were valued at £750. Following prolonged inquiries, the police constable at Lunisden received information warranting further action and in company with DetectiveSergeant Thompson visited the station 011 Tuesday evening and interviewed a suspect, who denied any association with the crime. This compelled the police temporarily to suspend action. Late last night,, however, a party of shepherds was led to the spot 011 the station •where the three cups were recovered. Subsequently an elderly station employee was arrested and appeared this morning before justices at the Lumsden courthouse, being remanded to appear at Invercargill on January 21.
