HOLIDAY FEATURES DAVID LOW IN AMERICA MAUNGANUI CRUISE PICTURES David Low, the famous New Zealand cartoonist and caricaturist, recently spent a holiday in America with his sketchbook. In "Low Among the Americans," an article that appears in the current issue ot 'lhk \\ ekki.v N i:\vs, on sale to-day, he oilers a humorous and entertaining eommentary on his impressions of leading personalities ot the United States. The article is illustrated with a series of brilliant sketches of President Roosevelt, Father Coughlin, Mary Pickl'ord, .Jack Dcmpsey and Walter Wincholl, who were some of the famous national figures that he encountered. The first, instalment of "The Flaming Phantom," a new short serial, which will be published in lour instalments this month, is another new feature contained in the magazine pages. In this story, Jacques Eutrello, tho author, again presents his remarkable character, Professor Augustus S. V. N. Van Dusen, whose past exploits, described in "The Problem of Cell 13" and "Tho Scarlet Thread," proved widely acceptable to Wiokki.y News readers. Professor Van Dusen, better known as "Tho Thinking Machine," believes that any problem can be solved il the mind has power. This time he tackles the mystery of a haunted house and tho terror therein. Illustrations of special interest in tho main pictorial section include track and lawn snapshots taken during the concluding days of tho Auckland Racing Club's summer carnival, a page of pictures depicting the recent summer cruise made by the Maunganui to the North Auckland coast, and latest air mail photographs relating to the recent constitutional crisis in Great Britain.
