RUNNERS IN CHRISTCHURCH 1 NO DELIVERY LAST EVENING l [by TKi.Ecn.vrii —ritEss association] CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday The evening newspapers in ChristI church were not delivered to subscribers this evening, and were not on j sale in the streets, owing to a dispute between the companies and the runj tiers. The morning newspapers will not | be delivered by the ordinary staff oi ■ runners to-morrow, but arrangement? ; have been made for their distribution. Efforts have, been made for some day? to settle the dispute, but the increased i remuneration offered by the companies was rejected by the men. One offoi made to tho men as an alternative tc i the present method of payment was ! that they be given a weekly wage, which would be subject to an award !of the Arbitration Court. This offci also was rejected.
