BRIDGE PARTY

CHRISTMAS LEPER FUND A bridge party, attended by a representative gathering, of more than 200 people, was held at the Overseas League rooms on Saturday in aid of the Christmas leper fund. The organiser was Mr. D. L. Thomas, who spoke appreciatively of tho help that had been given by Mrs. Watters during tho past eight years in the work for the lepers. This year they hoped to send the largest collection of gifts for Christmas that had yet been sent to Makogai Island. These gifts of remembrance from New Zealand, said the speaker, did much to cheer tho sufferers, and he was sure were an aid in effecting cures. Mrs. R. Watters received the guests, wearing a frock of black romaine. The prize-winners were as follows: —Bridge: Ladies, Miss Hunter; consolation, Mrs. J. McClymont. Men: Mr. J. Thuell and Mr. Farmer. Five hundred: Ladies, Mrs. W. Da vies and Mrs. Capper; men, Mr. W. Davis and Mr. McKay.
