HEAVY FIRE LOSS

LARGE HOME DESTROYED INADEQUATE WATER SUPPLY £by telegraph OWN correspondent J TE AROHA, Monday Damage estimated at £2OOO was caused, this morning when the largo residence of Mr. Frederick MacKie, in Kenrick Street, Te Aroha, was totally destroyed by fire. The outbreak occurred in the washhouse, and the To Aroha fire brigade was promptly summoned. On arrival, however, the brigade found the water supply inadequate, and, although the brigade's pumping equipment was used, it was impossible to quell the flames. Within an hour the entire structuro had been burned to the ground. The dwelling was insured for £9OO, the furniture being covered for £2OO.
