ACCIDENT WITH SAW

DEATH OF PROPRIETOR STRUCK BY FLYING WOOD [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION"] CHRIBTCHURCH, Tuesday Injuries which proved fatal this evening were received yesterday afternoon by Mr. Ernest Hayward Morris, aged 50, sawmiller, of Oxford. Wood which Mr. Morris was cutting with a power saw flew up and one part broke ribs which penetrated his lung and the other part broke his chest bone and penetrated his windpipe. A specialist was called from Christchurch and though the injury to the lung was successfully treated the other injury proved fatal. Mr. Morris was the proprietor of the mill where the accident occurred. PUKEKOHE RESIDENT INJURED CONDITION VERY SERIOUS A well-known Pukekohe business man, Mr. Henry Puckridge, a partner in the firm of Adams and Puckridge, cabinetmakers, was admitted to the Auckland Hospital in a serious condition as the result of an accident in the firm's workshop in King Street, Pukekohe, on Monday afternoon. Mr. Puckridge was guiding a piece of timber through the circular saw when it suddenly jammed at the end by his hand. It sprang up, glanced off the guide, and struck him across the body, inflicting internal injuries. Mr. Puckridge was attended by Dr. A. T. Begg, of Pukekohe, who later had him removed to the hospital in a St. John ambulance. His condition late last night was very serious.
