Pickmeup loft three furlongs behind in 3<J l-ss. This three-year-old will require time. Hot Shot, from a standing start, left threo furlongs behind in 42 3-os. He is recovering from a cold. Dawning Light and Dungarvan ran six furlongs in '1.23, after covering tho first threo in 41s. The former was full of running at the close. Vonia Park and Alar tarn ran thenfirst live furlongs in 1.9, tho former doing the better. Saltspray registered an attractive eii'ort by leaving his first, three furlongs behind in 41s, and then going on to run six furlongs in 1.23. St. Clara, who had been physicked, was speeded lip over tho last two furlongs, to run 265. This mare has built up nicely. Laughing Chief and The Crooner were on tonus, with Bluffer half a length back, at the closo of a threo furlongs' scamper in 38 3-ss. All threo are developing. Tatter and 15lack Fox, both of whom liavo returned from spells, ran an easy three furlongs in 3 ( J 2-ss. Manawatru's half-brother, by Lackham, left three furlongs behind in 40s. This three-year-old hats good action. Tangled made the pace for Gainsay in the early stages of a half-mile, sprint, but they were on terms at the tsost in 56 2-ss.
Miss Pango and Padnos kept on term* throughout a useful mile effort. Tliey ran tJio first five furlongs in 1.10, and the full journey in 1.52 2-5. Miss Pango had the advantage in weight, and she was doing it well at the close. The two-year-olds Tipsy Miss and Wild Flower left three furlongs behind in 41 4-ss. The former had a lead in the early stages, but her companion was on terms at the post. J). Mansfield, the light-weight apprentice jockey, in G. W. New's stable, sustained a fracturo of his left arm on Monday as a result of the two-year-old colt by Peach Brandy—Hallovonia falling on him. The injury will keep Mansfield out of the saddle for six weeks at least. A fortnight previously, ho suffered a fall as a result of faulty gear, but on that occasion ho escaped injury. N.Z. TROTTING AT EPSOM NOMINATIONS ON FRIDAY Nominations for the Auckland Trotting Club's meeting on October 24 and 26 are due with the secretary, Mr. A. G. Mabee, at 5 o'clock on Friday, October 9, and acceptances will close a week later. TROTTING BREVITIES NEWS FROM ALL SOURCES Twenty Grand, a three-year-old maiden by Jack Potts, of whom good things aro expected, has been transferred from J. S. Shaw to M. B. Ed wards, who has the facilities to give him experience of grass tracks, which lie needs. Mr. F. E. Sutton has decided not to continue to race Sunny Morn, who won his last race, the only success of last season, at Forbury in May. The son of Sungod has been a good winner and reached New Zealand Cup class, but ho has won only two races in the last two and a-half years.
Hidden Charm won three races for A. K. Messervy last season, but lie has not been in action for some time. He is reported to be training on well at Now Brighton, and will probably make his next appearance on that course, where ho has run good races without being lucky enough to win.
Among tlio horses who survived tlio second forfeit for tlio Wellington Trotting Stakes of 1937, for three-year-olds, were F. J. Smith's colt by Jewel Pointer —Bonnio Bingen. The siro Frank Worthy is well represented, tlio i! 5 remaining including eight of his progeny, while Jack Potts has six representatives.
CASE OF MUSKON OWNER AND TRAINER FINED The Auckland District Committee yesterday afternoon discussed the case of the horse skon, and after hearing the owner, Mr. S. Moore, and the trainer, Mr. G. I'd toft, tho former was lined £'s and the latter £lO, under Rule I'M, clause 2 of the Rules of Racing, covering penalties for any person who knowingly employs other than a licensed trainer and for any person who so acts as trainer without tho proper authority.
