COLLEGE BOXING

SACRED HEART TOURNEY P. KYNE WINS SENIOR TITLE MOLLOY MEDAL TO J. ENWRIGHT Boxing of an excellent standard was witnessed in the semi-finals and finals of ilie Sacred Heart College's annual tournament, which were staged before a, large and appreciative crowd in the college gymnasium last evening. Most of the bouts were characterised by scientific; and vigorous methods, exceptional keenness being in evidence'among the competitors. The heavy-weight title of the college was won by I'. K.vne, of Pompallier House, who defeated R. McKenzie, Coolahan House, in an exciting final. The Tom Molloy Memorial Medal, for the light-weight championship, was won by J. Enwright, while It. Lake, who was defeated in the final of the feather-weight class, received Mr. li. Gardes' trophy for the most scientific boxer. A tribute to the excellent management of the tournament was paid by the director of the college, the Rev. Rrother Tarcisius, who thanked his staff, the instructor, Mr. 11. Donovan, and members of the Auckland Roving Association for their assistance, lie expressed appreciation of the association's generosity in lending the necessary gear and lie thanked Mr. W. Harper for erecting the ring. Replying on behalf of the Auckland Boxing Association, which was represented by several officials, the president, Mr. R. Rugg, congratulated the competitors on the improved standard revealed. He mentioned the fact that a past pupil of the college, M. McHugh, was the present Auckland amateur heyvy-weight champion. Jle announced his intention of presenting a special prize to 11. Murphy for his plucky performance in a special weight contest against T. Sharkey. During the'evening an exhibition was given by two Auckland amateurs, J. Rakalicli and R. Lyall. The officials were as follows:—Announcer, Mr. W. Dervaii; referee, Mr. F. Burns; judges, Messrs. J.
