CANTERBURY CLUB

Reminiscences of Canterbury formed the subject for the monthly meeting of the Canterbury Club, held in tho rest-a-while rooms, Victoria Arcade, last evening. Mr. J. E. Green, who presided over a largo attendance, announced that December 16, tho anniversary day of the provinco, would bo fittingly celebrated for the first time in Auckland. The programme is to embrace a luncheon, bowls and in tho evening a social reunion of former Canterbury residents. An apology was received from Sir.Walter Stringer, whose health did not permit of his delivering an address on Old Canterbury, which has been postponed until next month. Those contributing reminiscences were the Rev. R. G. Coats, Messrs. F. K. Hunt. T. Clarkson and W. Pavitt. Songs were civen by the Rev. Walter Averill and Mr. G. Morton Smith, Mr. Len Elliot being the accompanist. Several new members were elected.
