DEATH AT CONTROLS PASSENGER TAKES CHARGE LANDS MACHINE SAFELY By Telegraph—rress Association—Copyright (Received August ill, 5.5 p.m.) CAPETOWN, August 30 The captain of the Benoni light Aeroplane Club, Dr. Dalton, collapsed and died while flying over the Rand. He had taken up two passengers, Miss Atvrill, aged 16 and Mr. Kruger. When the machine was at an altitude of 3000 feet, Mr. Kruger saw Dr. Dalton lurch sideways. The aeroplane, out of control, flew wildly in circles. Mr. Kruger, although he had had only nine hours' flying experience, managed to push Dr. Dalton's body aside and effected a forced landing. He was not hurt and the girl was only bruised. The aeroplane was slightly damaged.
