MOST PROMISING VOICE NEWCASTLE MAN'S PRIZE SYDNEY, August 31 The special prize of £25, given by the Arts Club for the most promising voice among the competitors at the Sydney, Eisteddfod, was won by Mr. Walter Carter, of Newcastle. The competitors included the New Zcalanders Misses Bertha Rawlinson, Julie Warry and Sybil Phillips. The adjudicator, Mr. H. Temple White (New Zealand), said the men's voices showed more promise than the women's. Comparing the standard between New Zealand and Australia. Mr. White said he thought New Zealand's was the better. The competitors in such events as grand opera and aria could rank with the best he had heard in Sydney. The mixed choirs, male and female choirs, and church choirs were far better than anything he had heard in the competition field in New Zealand.
