REPRESENTATIVE RUGBY RACING SEASON OPENS Sporting enthusiasts in Auckland will bo particularly well catorcd for to-day. One of tho principal attractions will bo the representative Rugby football match between Australia and Auckland. Tho game, which will be played at Edon Park this afternoon, is expected to produce some cf the brightest football of the season. Auckland has a strong team, and the visitors have an enviable reputation. The match will commence at 3.15 and the curtain-raiser will be between the first iilteens of tho New Plymouth High School and tho Auckland Grammar School. Hie Kaipara representatives will play the Auckland li team 011 the Xo. 2 ground at Eden Park at 1.30 p.m. The new racing season will be opened at Ellerslie to-day with tho Pakuranga Hunt meeting. An attractive programme has been arranged and with well-balanced fields keen racing is assured. League football competitions will be continued and the main match at Carlaw Park at 3 p.m. will be between Richmond and Devonport. Manukau and Marist will meet on tho same ground at 1.40 p.m. Tho two strong Association football teams, Ponsonby and Thistle, will meet at Hlandford Park at .'1 p.m., while tho early match will be provided by MetroCollege and Mount Albert Grammar Old Boy.*. Tho hockey senior championship has reached an interesting stage and to-day's games at Remuera and Papatoctoe should produce much good play. Basketball competitions arc to be continued, whilo the various golf clubs have arranged contests. The harrier and cycling clubs also have extensive programmes. Keen wrestling is anticipated in tho Town Hall to-night, when in a professional heavy-weight contest "Loftv" Blomfield will moot Dannv Busok.
