PLACEMENT SCHEME
NEW SETS OF OFFICES CHANGES FROM MONDAY Changes in the office accommodation of the employment section of tho Labour Department which, administers the placement scheme will take effect on Monday. The change not only involves the moving of the offices dealing with applicants for work from the Government Labour Bureau behind tho Chief Post Office to premises in tho Hall of Commerce, High Street, but tho accommodating of tho headquarters of the scheme on the first floor of the Post Office building in High Street. This will mean that tho industrial section of the Labour Department will now occupy the whole of the second floor of the High Street Post Office building, which it hitherto shared with tho employment section. Tho work under tho placement scheme has developed to such an extent that a big organisation has now been created under the Government employment officer, Mr. A. T. Grandison. ft has therefore been necessary to make extensive alterations to the first floor of the High Street Post Offico, where a large staff will bo installed, and where employers will be interviewed by tho placement officer At tho Hall of Commerce buildings, where the men will bo interviewed, a 1 mrge waiting room has been provided, where it is intended to supply various periodicals and papers for the convenience of the men. There are also several other large rooms for interviewing, the keeping of records, and other work.
