NATIONAL BODY
NEW ORGANISATION REPRESENTING INDUSTRY DECISION OF CONFERENCE [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] HASTINGS. Wednesday The desirability of forming an incorporated body to act as an independent organisation representing the dairy industry was emphasised at the national dairy conference to-day and a decision was made to take preliminary stops for the formation of a body to he known as the National Dairy Conference, Incorporated. The matter was raised by the chairman, Mr. A. Morton, of Egmont Village, Taranaki, who moved that immediate steps should he taken to bring into existence a legally constituted organisation which would effectively represent the interests of the dairy industry and, more particularly, to carry on the work of the conference; also that the executive should be authorised to take the necessary steps in that direction, the organisation to be called the National Dairy Conference, Incorporated. The resolution was carried unanimously and the oxecutivo was instructed to draw up a constitution for submission to the conference to-uiorrow.
During tho discussion on tho motion delegates expressed the opinion that, as a result of recent legislation, tho Dairy Board would not really represent the viewpoint of the industry, as it was more or less completely under the control of the Minister of Marketing. It was considered that only a strong, independent organisation could protect tho rights of tho producers and keep their viewpoint prominently before the Government in negotiations which wero bound to arise under the guaranteed price scliemo.
