South Island Rugby match and the Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting on August 15 in Christchurch was discussed at a meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union to-night, when tho Canterbury Jockey Club asked if the date of the match could be changed, as tho clash would have a serious effect upon the attendances at both fixture* Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman, said he did not think that the rlate could be altered, but the races might bo advanced in time. No ono wanted a conflict between the two fixtures. The union adopted his suggestion that the request should be referred to the Canterbury Rugby Union for consideration with a view to seeing if it could meet tho wishes of tho Canterbury Jockey Club, the understanding being that it would report back to the New Zealand Rugby Union
