Cranford broke away well clear of Rebel Chief on beginning a sevenfurlong task, but the pair raced together over the last half-mile. The hitter's time was 1.32 3-5. Rebel Chief's effort was impressive, as he was several lengths away for the first three furlongs. Capital ran half a milo along the back in 52 2-ss. Locliaiu beat Golden Glowin 535.

Grand Review required 1.32 2-5 for her seven furlongs. H. Turner is to ride her at Amberley.

She was accepted for in three races at Amberley, but is likely to contest only the Starkev Handicap. Arrow Glen and Frontage ran half a mile in 50 2-ss, the former again going well. Jolly Beggar, joined by Glenavon at tho five furlongs, gallopejj a milo comfortably in 1.49 2-5. Polydora finished in front of Latitude after a similar task, in 1.45 2-5. Friday Night Retired Friday Night has once more failed to stand up to training and he has definitely been retired. Ho will be given light stud duty during tho coming season. A yearling filly by Philainor from Cymene, dam of Cylinder, accompanied the Paper Money-Egotism yearling filly from Teviotdale to F. D. Jones' stable this week. She is to be broken in and sent back until the spring and her place in tho stablo will be taken by Kow Tow.

Royal Gallant and Needful raced badly at the Nelson meeting last weekend, due to their having a very rough trip by sea from Greymouth to Nelson, which occupied two days. Both have had chances to recover and they should fare better at Blenheim. Their stable-mates, Sea Fox and Dollar Bill, are booked to go north, in the charge of J. S. Shaw, to race- at the Waikato and Auckland meetings, but Paliu may not make tho trip. He has suffered from the effects of getting gorse thorns into his legs at the Kivcrton Faster meeting, and ho may not be right in time.

LI. Rama has arranged to tako Horowhenua and Toolcv Street north on Wednesday next to raco at Marton, To Rapa and Ellerslie. The apprentice jockey, H. W. Hibberd, who will go to Te Rapa and Auckland with F. Christmas, will ride tho pair at those meetings. DEATH OF LYN WORTHY PROMISING JUVENILE PACER [BY TELEGRAFH —FROM ABAYDOS] HAMILTON, Thursday Mr. E. H. Cucksey has lost his promising three-year-old pacer, Lyn Worthy, whose death has occurred at Takanini. The Frank Worthy colt had not been right since he raced at Wellington and it is stated a clot of blood on the heart was the cause of his death. Lyn Worthy, who lias not raced much, had won two races and gave promise of developing into a good horso. * NOTES FROM EVERYWHERE TRACK AND STABLE GOSSIP Tho four-year-old sister to Silver Streak, who was originally named Fulix, has been re-registered as Golden Streak. She is yet to race.

The Wellington Pacing Club is applying for three days' racing at its spring meeting, the extra day 011 the Thursday prior to Labour Day.

llaut Monde is to be added to the list before he is raced again. This three-year-old has run good races and bad races, and his average has been much below expectations.

Tho reconstructed main totalisator house at Trentham is to be finished in time for the July winter meeting, and it is hoped to have the Julius machine installed for the spring meeting.

A Sydney message states that H. W. Berry, rider of Prince Pombal in the High-weight Handicap at Kensington on Wednesday, was disqualified for two months for interference with Moneta.

Cesation's two fillies by Pabbi, a two-year-old and a yearling, have been named respectively Sheeny and La Juivre. The second name is apparently a misspelling for La Juive, meaning a Jewess. ,

Epris, who failed completely to reproduce his South Island form on his autumn visit to the Auckland Province, has been nominated for the Flying Handicap at Ashburton. Ho will have to make a quick recovery to be in the money in this six furlongs race.

No horse has come to hand quicker in the past few months at New Plymouth than the Musketoon gelding Mustang, who has shown himself to be. a smart galloper, but unsoundness has caused him a chequered career. Ho is quite well again now, and, as he seems to he able to reproduce his best on soft tracks, ho should win races in the next few weeks.

A four-year-old winner of an important steeplechase is unusual anywhere, but that is the .ice of Gnair, winner of the Centenary Gicat Eastern Steeplechase at Onkaparinga on Easter Monday. Gnair is by St. Spasa, who won a Metropolitan at Kandwick and was third in Sasanof's Melbourne Cup. It is on record that The Yeoman won the V.R.C. Grand National Steeplechase as a three-year-old.

Although she won £ll2 in her first season, as a four-year-old, Sisterina lost many stakes through her peculiar temperament. She almost invariably began after the rest of the field, then rushed past them, to establish a lead in the middle stages. Sometimes, these methods enabled hor to win, but more often, she was overhauled in the straight. Of late, however, she has been able to conserve her stamina better, and in her last 11 starts, she has won four times, with three seconds and two thirds. Sisterina is by Arrowsmith from Matty Carling, by Kilbroney, so sho has well-endowed staying lines.
