The tracks were holding alter rain. Versant and llliniani ran five furlongs in 1.5, a useful effort. llliniani had an advantage in the weights, but he worked well for a novice. Royal Appellant was let off with an easy five furlongs, running the last four in 58s.

Valmint strode over six furlongs in 1.30 4-5, the last three in 43 4-ss. Valspear covered seven furlongs in 1.37 2-5, the last half-mile taking 56 l-ss. He again worked freely and should soon make amends for his recent defeats.

Black Marlin was a shade in front of Prince Abb at the end of six furlongs ill 1.20 3-5, the last three iu 41 4-ss.

After running a round in 1.49 3-5, Gascille and King Mestor completed another circuit, traversing the last six furlongs in 1.27 4-5. Sliv and Te Hai were allotted a working gallop over a round in 1.52, the last six furlongs taking 1.26 1-5. United covered a similar distance in 1.49 1-5, the last seven furlongs in 1.39 4-5.

Billy liov and Towp Beauty worked solidly over a mile and a-balf, both hitting out freely. Absent (Sharkey) gave King Spear (E. C. Rae) a lead over a couple of pony hurdles.
