ZOO SEA LION DIES

RECENT ACQUISITION MORE EXPECTED SHORTLY Angel, the young Australian sea-lion which was recently acquired by the Zoological Park authorities from a travelling showman, is dead. She was sold when her mate died, but whether she was suffering from a broken heart or some more material trouble, Angel did not live long to enjoy her new surroundings, and died yesterday morning after only 26 days at the Zoo. A post-mortem is being held. The sea-lion was the first at the Zoo for several years and was notable on account of its small size, being only three feet long. However, three sealions of a Californian species are expected from San Diego in a few ireelu. riUNEDIN'S ATTRACTION SHIPMENT TO WELLINGTON [BT TELEGBATEF—OWN CORRF.SPONDE.VrI Tuesday Dunedin will say good-bye to-morrow morning to the sea lion which, for some months past, since it came ashore from the sea, has been the subject of more or less acrimonious discussion. By skill and cunning it was to-day inveigled into a crate and . placed in a yard ready for shipment by the Waitaki, which will sail to-morrow for Wellington, where sanctuary has been found for the sea lion in the zoo. The capture of the animal was not effected without difficulty.
