CONCRETE FOOTPATHS
* SCHEME AT OTAHUHU [ WORK TO BE COMMENCED f A scheme for the concreting of footpaths was adopted by the Otahuhu * Borough Council on Monday night. The Works Committee reported that ' the Unemployment Board had granted a subsidy on labour employed on the [ scheme. It recommended that, foot--t paths 4ft. wide and 2in. thick should be laid in the following streets:— | Avenue Road, Hckonui Estate, Sed-' | don Terrace, Clevedon Road, Hall ' Avenue, Victoria Street, Golf Avenue, * Queen Street, Tamaki, Sturges and 5 Park Avenues. ' The foreman estimated that the > plant required for the scheme would ; cost about £155. L Mr. A. Sinclair said there were records available of the actual expenditure on every street in the borough. Had they been taken into account ; when the list of approved streets wag drawn up? , J The Mayor, Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., said the grouping of work and neces--1 sity of certain streets had been the deciding factors. ,He said the total ' cost of the work was £2019. " It was decided to proceed with the . scheme.
