; THE DIOCESTE OF WAIAPU MANY VISITORS EXPECTED [bt telegbaph—owx correspondent] GISBOBXE, Tuesday The annual Maori synod in the Waiapu Diocese will be held at Manutuke next week, and from 800 to 1000 i visitors are expected from Hawke'a Bay, the East Coast, the Bay of Plenty, and Rotorua. The synod will be preceded by the dedication of the Maori > church at Poho-o-Rawiri, and will include choral competitions among the choirs of Gisborne, the East Coast, the Bay of Plenty, Rotorua, and Hawke's Bay. Among the visitors during that period will be the Bishop of Waiapu, tho Rt. Rev. H. W. Williams, and the Bishop of Aotea-roa, the Rt. Rev. F. ' A. Bennett, both of whom will partici- ; pate at the dedication of the church ) at Poho-o-Rawiri. 1 Thursday will be given up to the , reception of the visitors and the makI ing of final arrangements for their accommodation. Special facilities have been provided in the three meeting j houses at Manutuke Pa, while two other houses close by will also be used. In addition, a tawharau or dining hall i has been built for the occasion, this 5 being made of a wooden frame covered with tarpaulins, covering a ground r space of 100 ft. by 40ft-, and capable j of accommodating from 350 to. 400 people at one sitting*
