ADVANCE OF 5 PER CENT COMPETITION SPIRITED (Received February 24, 11.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 24 At the wool sales 12,672 bales were offered and 11,738 sold, 1182 privately. Competition was spirited from all sections, with increased American support. The hardening tendency reported last, week may now be quoted as an advance of 5 per cent on all descriptions compared with the earlier sales Inst week. Greasy Merino made up to 24Jd per lb. The average price last week was £2O 3s 5d a bale, or 16.8 d per lb.
