ELECTIONS IN JAPAN

VOTE AGAINST FASCISM LABOUR'S UNEXPECTED SUCCESS LONDON. Feb. 23 The Japanese elections resulted, says the Tokio correspondent of the Times, in a strong popular vote against Fascist tendencies in the Seivukai Party (Conservatives), some of whose leaders angled for reactionary support. The party, however, lost 130 seats. The Minseito (Liberal Party), which demanded constitutional government and the extermination of Fascism, gained 59. Japanese newspapers ascribe Labour's unexpected successes to public disgust with the orthodox parties and their ""failure to combat Fascism. The results generally have encouraged friends of parliamentary government, to which the Liberals regard the situation as a half-way stage.
