RECEIVING CHARGE
QUANTITY OF CUTLERY WOMAN BEFORE COURT A charge of receiving a quantity of cutlery from a person or persons unknown, knowing that it had been dishonestly obtained, was brought against a married woman, Mary Hughes, aged 25, in the Police Court yesterday. It was alleged that the cutlery, which consisted of six knives, a fork and a table spoon, of a total value of 7s, had been taken from a steamer in the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's fleet some months ago. Mr. Dickson, for accused, who pleaded not guilty, said that when she received the cutlery from a seaman accused had no idea that it had been stolen. It she had known that she would not havo accepted it. The magistrate, Mr. Wyvern Wilson, entered a conviction and ordered accused to come up fi>r sentence if called upon within six months.
