OPEN PAIRS TOUBNEY FIXTURE AT ROTORUA ENGLISH TEAM COMPETES ' 1 [by TELEGRAM —own correspondent] ROTORUA. Monday The annual open pairs tournament of the Rotorua Bowling which thirf year has attracted the record entry of 55 teams, opened this morning, although the first games were delayed for.about two hours, as a result of wet greens following heavy rain overnight. In the afternoon the weather improved, and the play took place in bright sunshine.
An interesting feature of the tournament is the entry of a team from tho Ryde Club, England, consisting of C. P. Cross and K. I. Cross, father and son, who, however, suffered two defeats. to-day. Hqpwood and Hardley, of West End, last year's winners, won all three games t'q-day, and are leading in section E, with Gatland and Livingstone, of Otahuhu.
