NEXT OLYMPIC GAMES NOMINATION OF MANAGER The Auckland Amateur Athletic Centre decided last evening, upon the motion of Mr. J. Hogben, to nominate Mr. H. L. Towers as manager for the 1936 Olympic Games team, and, in the event of Mr. Towers being unable to accept, to nominate Mr. G. H. Weir, of Rotorua. A letter was received from the Dargaville Amateur Athletic Club expressing gratitude at the considerate treatment its representatives had received at the hands of Auckland ofljcials during tho recent provincial championships. The Ellerslie Club was granted permission to conduct an open meeting on March 21. 'Jlhe club informed the centre that it intended to hold open meetings on alternate Monday evenings for the remainder of the season. Tho resignation from the centre of Mr. K. Pinson, secretary of the Old Grammarians' Athletic Club, was received and accepted with regret. Mr. Pinson, who is soon to leave New Zealand to take up a position in Fiji, was thanked for the keen interest he had taken in Auckland athletics. Applications for leave to compete with the Auckland provincial team at the forthcoming New Zealand championships were granted to AV. Roberts, Auckland 100 yards champion, und A. Browne, three miles champion, neither of whom had been chosen in the official team. The matter of a manager for the team to visit Dunedin was discussed at, some length, und it was decided to appoint tho secretary of tho centro, Mr. H. Jenner Wily, to act in tho capacity of manager-delegate. An Auckland sportsman submitted a letter requesting that the 1936 New Zealand Olympic Games representatives bo sent to Berlin early enough before the commencement of the meeting for them to become acclimatised. An application from C. P. Clegg for transfer from the Auckland to tho University Club was approved. The Kiwi Ladies Amateur Athletic Club wrote suggesting that nn enclosed remit be forwarded for consideration at the forthcoming conference of centres, to bo held at Dune<lin this month. The remit recommended that provision be made for the inclusion in the programme of the New Zealand championship meeting of the following events for ladies:—soyds, 100 yds, 880 yds, 80yds hurdles, high jump, broad jump, throwing the javelin, throwing the discus, putting the shot, and a relay of 4 x 110 yds. It waft moved that the remit be forwarded with the deletion of the 880 yds, this event being considered too strenuous for ladies. The following standards were ndopted for ladies' events: —soyds, G 3-5; 75yds, 9; 100 yds, 11 4-ss; 120 yds, 14 3-ss; 150 yds, 18 2-ss; 80yds hurdles, 13 3-ss. Relay events: 4 x 50yds, 275; 4 x 75yds, 37 3-ss; 4 x 100 yds, 40 2-ss; 4 x 110 yds, 545. Field events: High jump, 4ft. Gin.; long jump, l(Sft.; throwing the javelin, 70ft. The summary of points gained by the various clubs at the recent scratch meetings was submitted as follows:—Old Griimmarians, 511; Auckland, 262; Technical. 163: •Lynndale, 235; University, 148; Otnhuhu, 23; Papatoetoe ; 5. The Old Grammarians' Club will retain the banner for a further year. OLD GRAMMARIANS* CLUB The following events will bo held nt tho ninth points mooting of the Old Grammarians' Amateur Athletic Club this evening:—looyds, 880 yds, 220 yds hurdles, pole vault, discus throw, hop, step and jump. The events' will commence at 5.45 p.m. at the Grammar School grounds. The club championships will bo held next Saturday.,
