STONE ON RAILWAY LINE
ENGINE HITS OBSTRUCTION MAORI YOUTH ARRESTED [by telegraph—own correspondent] PAEROA, Friday A train coming from Waihi to Paeroa yesterday hit a largo stone, 'which had apparently been placed on tho line. Tho stone, which appeared to bo of about 701b. weight, was fortunately of a soft nature, and when hit by the engine it smashed to pieces and caused no serious damage. The matter was reported to the Paeroa police, and last evening Constable Dalboth arrested a Maori youth, about 18 years of age, on a charge of placing an obstruction on tho railway line. At tho Paeroa Police Court to-day, before justices, the youth, Tony Tiki Taka, was charged with tho offence and remanded in custody for 10 days.
