WHANGAREI TAXIS
LIMITATION OF LICENCES [from otjb own correspondent] "WHANGAREI, Tuesday As the result of recent negotiations with the taxi proprietors of Whangarei, the Borough Council decided last evening to adopt a by-law limiting the number of licences. The taxi proprietors have agreed on the scale of fares which will' operate for three months, after which the situation will then again be reviewed. They also suggested that "the number of taxi licences current at any one time should not exceed the present number of 26. ' In deciding to pass a by-law restricting the number of licences to 26, the council reserved to itself the right, in a state of emergency, to grant a further licence or licences.
