It has been decided to work the dredge on the lower flat, instead of working through the old Chinese workings to Chinaman's Terrace. Okarito (South Westland). —Last week, 350z. 14dwt. for 117 hours. Gillespie's Beach (South Westland). —Last week, 290z. lOdwt. for 96i hours. AUSTRALIAN PRICE OF GOLD The price fixed by the Commonwealth Bank for gold, including jewellery, lodged at the Melbourne Mint for tho week ended October 25, was at the rate of approximately £8 0s lOd a standard ounce (22 carats), equal to a premium of 106.52. Payment is made according to the assay value of gold. The price is id higher on the week. The price an ounce fine was £8 15s Sid, being a rise of id on the week.
