THE ALL BLACKS
WELCOME IN SCOTLAND AMAZING HOSPITALITY POOR FORM OF PLAYERS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Oct. 13 The special correspondent of tho United Press Association says that the All Blacks are greatly impressed by the warmth of their welcome in Scotland, and amazed by tho hospitality offered. Many hove been invited to stay at Scottish homes, but are unable to accept owing to the rulo that the team must not be dispersed. One member of the team admired a pull-over worn by an official at Hawick. The Scot immediately took it off and presented it to the All Black. The team (luring tho week-end visited Melroso and other ruined abbeys and historic scenes of border affrays. Ihey were delighted to find many parts of tho countryside, especially tho gorges, streams and hills, reminiscent of New Zealand. Both Mr. V. R. Meredith and the players are deeply perturbed by the mediocre displays of the team in the last two games, and feel that in spite of injuries and experiments it ought to do better. They are unable to discover exactly what is wrong beyond tho fact that only a few of tho players have reproduced their home form. This was carlior attributed to lack of condition, which by now should, have been remedied. Tho All Blacks are especially worried by the failure of their scrum, and it is believed Mr. Meredith will eventually try the 32 —3 formation.
