PRESIDENT RETIRES
THAMES JOCKEY CLUB GOOD SERVICES RECOGNISED [by telecraph—own correspondent] THAMES, Friday At the annual meeting of the Thamei Jockey Club this evening the president, Mr. Henry Lowe, intimated that he would not seek re-election. He had joined the club in 1893 and had been on the executive since 1913, acting as judge from 1910 to 1919. He had been chairman of committees from 1921 to 1928, and had been president since 1924. He considered he had done his duty to the club and, owing to public and private calls, he could not give the time necessary to the position. Mr. E. J. Clendon said he would voice the general s irprise and regret at Air. Lowe's decision. He had been a tower of strength to the club, and, on Mr. Clendon's motion, Mr. Lowe was made a life member of the club. Mr. Clendon was afterward elected president.
