-PAYMENT IN PKOYINCE EXTRA £400,000 EXPECTED BETTER LONDON MARKET THE BONUS DISTRIBUTIONS It is estimated that the average payment to dairyfarrners in the Auckland province for the season now ending will be about 9Jd per lb. butterfat net. The net payment in the previoys season was probably p. shade under 9d per lb. -.Approximately, every Id per lb. 'butter-fat is worth £1,000,000 to the province. On this basis, the increased payment this season means the distribution of about £600,000 more. However, the production in the province is about 3 per cent lower for the season, and this probably reduces the extra distribution to from £350,000 to £ 100,000. Bonus payments for tho season are made generally in July and August. Most of the factories were conservative 'in their advance payments during tho ■'season and because of this, and the -fact that London spot prices are now ■about lis per cwt. above the level last iyear, tho average bonus payment ■should be somewhat higher than last o>ear, In the case of consignment factories, the butter now being sold in London was manufactured some months r ago, consequently it is difficult to arrive at an accurate estimate of the season's cheque. It is probable that the bourse of tho market during the year •lias favoured factories consistently consigning their produce rather than the forward selling factories. If anything, the reverse was the case in the previous two seasons. This result is natural in' any market showing steady improvement.
Cheese factories have ■ not fared as ■u ell during the season as the butter factories, judging by the trend of London prices. There has been some mention of certain cheese factories turning over to butter production, while the ■dual factories in the province have been considering their position.
