LEGAL ACCURACY

WARNING BY A JUDGE A warning that the accuracy of every feffidavit, whether' formal or informal, must be regarded as a matter of grave importance, was uttered by Mr. Justice Fair in the Supremo Court yesterday. Counsel had just dritwn attention to a minor inaccuracy appearing in' an affidavit submitted in a bankruptcy case, find asked that it be overlooked as the affidavit was merely a formal ono. " I wish that impression, which appears to have been prevalent for some time," said His Honor, " that some affidavits are formal and attention to their contents may be relaxed, might be removed. Every affidavit is an affirmation on oath by the person making it. end he must satisfy himself that the contents are true, whether or not it is jmerely in compliance with statutory requirements and following a feet form." Counsel said he had always taken that view, but he j.ubmitted that the offence in this case was not as grave as |t would have been in a matter that jjvas seriously contested. His Honor accepted the affidavit.
