HISTORICAL PAGEANTRY SPECTACULAR PROCESSION MELBOURNE, June 8 The city of Melbourne celebrated its centenary to-day, it being. 100 years since John Batman, remarking, "This •will bo the place for a village," chose the site of the settlement which was to become Melbourne.

The principal event in the observance to-day was an historical pageant. The procession was the most spectacular ever seen in Melbourne.
