ALL-ROUND SPORTSMAN
CRICKETER AND FOOTBALLER Among the New Zealanders who would he specially interested in noting that Ivan J. Sicdlo scored, as an opening batsman for the South African cricket team, 52 and 161 not out against Oxford University, and followed that immediately by making 132 not out against the M.C.C., are members of the All Black Rugby team which toured South Africa in 1928. Siedle, a forward, played for Natal against the All Blacks, and was also in the trials for the selection of South Africa's team for the Tests.
As a cricketer he is now making his second visit to England. His previous tour was in 1929. He was in good form in the early part of that tour, also, making 169 nob oub against Leicestershire and 168 against Yorkshire. But just before the first Test he was injured, and he was not able to play against England until the third Test; he had lost his form then. Siedle was selected as a member of the South African cricket team which visited Australia and New Zealand in the 1931-32 season here, but he was unable to come.
