MURDERER'S WEALTH
STOCK MARKET, OPERATIONS MENTAL HOSPITAL INMATE (Received February 8, 10.30 p.m.) NEW YORK. Feb. 7 * Alphonse Stephani, who died in a mental hospital for the criminally insane to which he was committed for the murder of his solicitor, had increased his fortune of £IO,OOO to £50,000 at the time of his death by directing stock market operations from the institution. Embittered toward America, the man left a will ordering all his money to be sent to Germany, adding: "Under no consideration is any American to benefit; under this will." Deceased's cousin, Baron Frederick Stephani, who was an airman during the war, and now is a screen writer at Hollywood, claims a share in the estate.
