LORRY STRUCK BY TRAIN

CHINESE TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

PAEROA. Thursday

A collision between a train bound from Paeroa to Frankton and a motorlorry driven by Wong How, a Chinese market gardener, of Thames, occurred at the Cadinan Road level-crossing, about three miles from Paeroa, this morning. The lorry was struck by the front of the engine and was smashed to pieces. Although the driver was thrown clear of the train, he received a severe cut on the. back of the head and was badly bruised. The injured man was taken in the train to To Aroha, where he received medical attention, and later he wa» conveyed to the SVaikato Hospital, Hamilton. His condition is fairly serious.
