A prize of £2OOO in a Tattersall's consultation has been won by Mr. Ellis R. Finlayson, aged 25, farmer, of Aponga, near Whangarei. The winning ticket was issued under the initials, "E.F.," Pipiwai Rural Delivery, and it bears the number 72,458. Apart from being a pleasant New Year surprise the good fortune is particularly welcome, as Mr. Finlayson, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Finlayson, is to be married on January 16. His fiancee is Miss Mabel Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Wat* son, of Kanio Road, Whangarei. Mr. Finlayson farms a property of 400 acres and Is milking aibout 100 cows. The first intimation Mr. Finlayson received of his success in the consultation was when a boy employed on the farm ran down the paddock where ho was working this morning and told him the good news. "Naturally, I was delighted, but the boy seemed more, pleased than any» one," said Mr. Finlayson, who added that the ticket was the firet he had taken in Tattersall's.
