MANGERE EAST
PRESENTATION TO TEACHER A farewell ceremony to Miss. Carnahan, a member of the teaching staff of Mangere East School, was held in conjunction with the vacation break-up. Miss Carnahan, who has been teaching in the Mangere district since before 1927, has been transferred to Hawke's Bay. There was a large attendance of parents of scholars and former pupils. The chairman of the school committee, Mr. F. G. Massey, presented Miss Carnahan with a handbag and crystal powder bowl on behalf of the committee, parents and pupils. He paid a tribute to her high efficiency as a teacher, her sterling character and high ideals and the hold which Miss Carnahan had laid on the public affection bv reason of her untiring efforts inside and outside the school. While the residents congratulated her on her advancement they regretted that it entailed the severance of their happy associations. Mr. W. M. Massey, M.P., also spoke in appreciative terms of Miss Carnahan's services. *
