THEFT OF £942. ALLEGED
CHARGE AGAINST SOLICITOR COMMITTED FOR TRIAL [BY TEf.ECRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] PALMERSTON NORTH. Friday In the Police Court to-day Allan James McLeavey, aged 33, formerly practising as a solicitor, was charged that on May 11, 1932, and on divers dates between then and September 30, 1933, at Palmerston North, ho committed the theft of £912, the property of the estate of the late W. L. Child; also that on November 21, 1933, and divers dates between then and July, 1934, having received £93 on terms requiring him to account for same to George Arthur Wilton, he did fraudulently omit to do so, thereby committing theft. Accused pleaded not guilty to both charges. After evidence had been heard on the first charge, accused reserved his defence and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. On the second charge a remand was granted.
