NEXT WOOL SALE

OFFERING AT NAPIER

CATALOGUE FOR MONDAY FINE QUALITY OF THE CLIP [BV TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] HASTINGS. Friday A portion of Hawke's Bay's best wool clip for a. number of years will be offered at the first Napier sale on Monday. The bulk of the clip is highly suitable spinning sorts of a different type from those offered at Auckland on Tuesday. The values ruling at the Auckland sale have upset calculations with the result that brokers generally decline to express any comment on possible values at Napier. Monday's offering consists of approximately 17,000 bales, which is now opened in the various stores for inspection. The display is most attractive, and buyers were busily engaged to-day in making their valuations. As a result of the tone of the Auckland sale, a number of withdrawals are anticipated, but no indication of these can be given until brokers' valuations are in thfe hands of growers. The offering does not include a big percentage suitable to Continental buyers, who prefer shortel wool.

The catalogue includes very little held-over wool, which generally is much discoloured and showing condition. The bulk of the wool is in very light condition, being early shorn, but late lots are showing grease. "In my opinion, the wool v is opening up far better this year than last," said one broker. "It is nice handling and better grown. There is no doubt it is quite the finest display we have had for somo years. We know that from handling pooled wool in which the better grades are much more in evidence. The wool opened so far is mostly off young sheep."

the wool has opened well, much of that from the Hastings flats is showing evidence of burr, for which buyers are showing a decided dislike. There was an offering of 23,666 bales at the December sale last year. The limit set for tho sale was 25,000 bales.
