STEER RIDING AT SHOW
CANTERBURY PROHIBITION There will be no steer-riding contest at the annual show of the North Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association this year. This decision was reached at a meeting of the association, at which a letter was received from an inspector of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals stating that it was an offence to infuriate or terrify any animal, and it would therefore be advisable to delete the steerriding competition from the show programme.
