OPOSSUM SEASON
For as far back as there are authentic records the present season has been a record one for North Canterbury opossum trappers. The period allowed for the receipt of skins in the North Canterbury district closed this week, when 13,086 skins had been officially stamped for the season. The previous record season was in 1929, when 12,983 skins were stamped. The skins are said to have been in fair condition, but the prices for them have generally been low, the average being approximately 5s a skin.
