Painted Screen is the dam of Movie Star, who won the breeders' Plate at Randwick in 1930, and has since registered other smart performances. Shrill was a good imported mare of the No. 1 family, who won the Thompson Handicap at Trentham and among others produced Father's Voice, a brilliant two-year-old in his year, who/wos raced by Lady Jellicoe. Hunting Scene is trained by Mrs. A. W. McDonald for bis breeder, Mr. A. F. M. Symes. Maestro and Going Gay Maestro is a chestnut gelding by Colossus from Musical Moment, by Merry Moment— En Parole, by Finland—Gossip, by Wallace. En Parole was a sister to Bobrikoff, a splendid performer, and she was the dam of Right and Left, who was a good two-year-old. So far the progeny of Musical Moment have not distinguished themselves, but there may be hope for Maestro, especially later on, as his pedigree is suggestive of stamina. Hill and is trained by L. Wilson who prepared Princess Doreen with a good deul of success in her early career for the same owner. Although handicapped by having no companion, Carfex went a round at a eolid pace, galloping home the last five furlongs in 1.3 J. In the event of K. Voitre having to ride Rereatu. another rider will have to be found for Carfex, but nothing definite has been arranged. Carfex is very fit and will carry plenty of support in his Carnarvon Gold Cup engagement. He and Harvest Moon leave for Foxton by motor-float on Friday morning.

Harvest Moon did not impress in his gallop over five furlongs in 1.6. He has epeed, Dut hae bo far been disappointing.

A feature of this morning's work was a fine schooling display over five fences by Copey and Sandlark. The latter is a beginner at the jumping business, but he outjumped Copey at almost every fence, winning the bout by a specially good jump over the final obstacle. Copey jumped in his usual good style. He is carrying plenty of condition, having built up splendidly during his spell. The two-year-old Lowenojrg again sprinted smartly over two furlongs with Silver Wings, the pair finishing together in 24is, Richfield just failed by half a length to make up the advantage gained by _ Autumn Leaf at the commencement of their threefurlongs eprint in 38 l-ss. _ Friesland accompanied Flower Bag in a round at a solid pace, Flower Bag continuing on for another circuit and working very attractively. Aga Khan. Arouse and Silk Sox were allotted strong pace work, while easy tasks were apportioned Eara, Ingenuity and Rose Tiger was pottered round the middle and the two-year-olds were given routine exercise.
