FIELDS FOR PAEROA

NEXT SATURDAY'S EVENTS

TAUMARUNUI CUP CONTEST LIST OF THE ACCEPTANCES Acceptances for the first day of the Taumarunui Racing Club's meeting, to bo held at Paeroa next Saturday and on the following Monday, are as follows:

NEW PLYMOUTH HORSES CANDIDATES FOR FOXTON R. JOHNSON'S TEAM OF FOUR [from our own correspondent] NEW PLYMOUTH. Thursday There has not been a great deal of activity on the New Plymouth, tracks since the Wanganui meeting, but there will be a fair contingent competing at Foxton on Saturday. It. Johnson did not return with Lalla Quex, Davistock and Courtega after Wanganui, but proceeded on to Foxton. Another member of his -team. Adept, will be taken down to-raorrow. She ran two fair races at the combined hunt gathering and has gone on the right way since. R. Bailow is taking Headmistress to Foxton to compete in the Carnarvon Gold Cut). Headmistress was responsible for two good efforts at Wanganui and worked freely over a round this morning in company with Leo Colossus. She will be ridden by W. E. Pine. H. Dulieu'e pair for Fcxton, Leo Colossus and Gold Mission, are both in good heart. Little notice may be taken of the former's failure at Wanganui, as he did not get a good run. On Saturday Leo Colossus will be racing over nine furlongs for the first time, but he is now well seasoned, and when not nearly as fit as he ia at present he ran Quite a good race over a mile at New Plymouth last February. Gold Miesion is etill displaying plenty of pace and will only have to iump out smartly to go close to paying a dividend. The daughter of Royal Divorce is distinctly promising. The Lackham—Tigritiya mare Arvada is to be retired to the stud and is being sent to Waikanae to be mated with Philamor. Illuminate looks well after his race at Wanganui. Although nothing definite has been decided, it ia probable that he will be taken to Ellerslie next month. He has been unreliable in the past, but it is possible that he may do better over hurdles than he did on the flat. Lady Kyra, who is to contest the Great Northern Guineas, is making good progress. She was not bustled to beat Red Fox over five furlongs in 1.5 4-5 on the plough this morning. She is a shapely filly who looks like staying on. . Another possible candidate for Ellerslie is the Raceful two-year-old Grateful, who finished fourth in the Debutant Stakes at Wanganui on Saturday. He is a good cut of a colt who has shown nihility to gallop. SOUTHLAND PACER NEWCOMER IN BRYCE'S TEAM Nelson Pointer is the latest horse from Southland to be transferred to Canterbury and he is now a member of J. Bryce s stable. He is a six-year-old stallion by ft elson Bingen from Merce Pointer, by Logan Pointer from Merce, by Galindo from Authoress, the dam of Author Dillon, and ho is bred on highly successful lines. Nelson Pointer won three races in Southland last season, winding up with the Wyndham Cup, and interest will attach to him when he makes his first appearance in Canterbury, as other horses from Southland have gone on to good form there. TROTTING VISITORS THREE HAMILTON ENTRANTS Three horses from outside the Auckland province whose names appear in the handicaps for the Hamilton trotting meeting aro Azel Maid, from Palmerston North. Captain Bolt, from Gisborne, and Bell Heather, from Waverley. 801 l Heather, who for a period last season was in F. J. Smith's stable, was acquired by HeginboTTiam brothers after the Manawatu meeting in April. She registered only one second for Smith, and when formerly raced in the South Island by E. C. McDermott recorded a similar performance. Bell Heather is a well-bred trotter, being by Sonoma Harvester from a Rotjigchild mare. She appeared highly strung on race days, but may have improved since joining the Heginbotham stable if trained in the same manner hs the previous bread-and-butter pair, Lady Coronado and Hue Coronado. Captain Bolt is a young trotter bred and trained by R. C. Fisken, while. Azel Maid, by Azelzion. sire of Whippet, is a novice pacer owned by C. Millington. SMITH'S TEAM FOR HAMILTON Included m F. J. Smith's team for the Hamilton trotting meeting is Polly Pan, a novice trotter by Peterwah from a Harold Dillon mare, who was bred in Gisborne by R. C. Fisken, nnd at one tune was owned by Mr. F. J. Docherty. Other representatives from the Takanini stable are Kayon d'Or, who has not yet started for Smith, Rare Rey, a winner at Epsom last season, War Girl, who had her first racs since coming North at the August meeting, and the well-performed Wee Machine. TAKAPUNA PROGRAMME Details of the programme arranged by the Takapuna Jockey Club for its spring meeting, to be held at Ellerslie on November 24 and 2f>, appear in the advertising columns to-day. All classes of horses are well catered for, including hurdle and steeplechase performers. Entries close on November 9, whon final payments for the Takapun% and Pupuke Plates are also due.
