METHODIST AT HOME
A "hostess afternoon," arranged by the Ladies' Guild, was held in the Epsom Methodist Hall on Thursday, over 200 guests being present. They were welcomed by Mrs. Patchett, who was assisted by Miss I. Buttle and Miss S. Lawrence. The guest of honour was Mrs. Eaton, wife of the president of the conference. A special welcome was extended to her by Mrs. Patchett, and Mrs. Eaton replied. The hall was attractively decorated with spring flowers and afternoon tea was served. Musical items were rendered by Mesdames Otter and Rattray; Miss Betty Mulholland gave two elocutionary items and little Joy Stevens a national dance. Miss Millie Peak acted as accompanist. The Rev. E. D. Patchett announced that the funds of the guild had been augmented by the sum of nearly £4O. On behalf of the visitors from other districts. Mrs. J. W. Court, of Birkenhead, thanked the Epsom ladies for their kind hospitality. The following ladies acted as hostesses:—Mesdames Arnburv, Bovce, Clark, Frost, Hardley, Matthews, Patterson, Pilkington, Moodie, Dukes, Williams, Steele, F. Winstone, A. Winstone, C. Waddingham, Worsley, Reid, McMiken, Sinclair, Sims, Misses Pascoe, Sims, Rishworth and Waddingham.
