NURSES' MEMORIAL FUND

A bridge evening was held at the Nurses' Home, Mountain Road, Epsom, on Thursday to assist the funds of the Nurses' Memorial: Fund. The hostesses were Mrs. A. Kidd, president of the Registered Nurses' Association, Miss Houchen, honorary treasurer of the Memorial Fund (Auckland branch), and Miss Patterson, the convener. The prizes, which were for a hidden number, were won by Mrs. Hamblin, Miss Broun and Miss Gott. The dining room and lounge had been arranged with Iceland poppies and with the bright frocking of the players presented a very colourful scene. Those present were: —Mesdames Kidd, Ingles, Thompson, Grimmond, Till, Huddlestone, Hamblin, Coutts, Pollock, Tresidder, Coats, de Jauna.v, Coupland, Purser, Sheppard, H. E. Jones, Metcalfe, Haresnape and the Misses Houchen, Patterson, Holhs, Blewett, Nutsey, Broun, Lord, Adlington, Brown, A. Bagley, M. -Bagley, Campbell, Mueller, Forrest, Till, Gott., Rennell, Rudd, Bentbam, Hagan, Taylor (2), Cozens (2), Rawlins, Bentham (2), Purser, L. Hood, Empson (Te Awamutu), Mandeno, Toomey, Simson, Wright, Hall, Wade, Young, Pugh, Ross, N. H. Rose, D. Hodge, M. Clark, Kennedy, Drake, Bruce, Keyes, Rudd, Parkinson, Thompson (2), Aitken, Guthrie, Richardson, Ewart, Jackson (2), E. Bellairs, Moody, Carmichael, Montgomery, Campbell, K. Wright, I. J. Hood, Smith and Mirams. Donations to the fund were also sent by Mrs. Todd Smith, Miss Cussen, Miss Ross, Miss Early, Mrs. Malcock, Miss Rose, Miss Bates, Miss Comrie and Miss Edwards.

At the conclusion of play, a delicious supper, for which Miss Houchen and the staff of the club were responsible, was served in the dining room and lounge.
